The Fox & Oden Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bold, oak-forward, and layered with depth—this straight bourbon showcases caramel warmth wrapped in leather, toasted oak, and baking spices. It embodies classic American craftsmanship with a modern, nuanced profile.
Origins & Craftsmanship
-
Part of the Fox & Oden portfolio, designed to honor Joseph A. Magnus’s pre-prohibition blending expertise, brought to life through Michigan’s rugged beauty and storytelling.
-
Sourced and released by under-declared ND distillers (commonly from Indiana's MGP), this expression blends 8- and 15-year-old bourbons using both 21% and 36% rye mash bills.
-
Bottled at 99 proof (49.5% ABV)—small batch and limited in release.
Tasting Profile
-
Nose: Rich scents of butterscotch, fig, and nutmeg.
-
Palate: Deep and complex—salted caramel gives way to smoky, charred oak, leather, and warm baking spices, with hints of tobacco emerging subtly.
-
Finish: Medium-length with lingering oak, orange zest, and almond bitterness. A creamy mouthfeel gives way to a balanced, warm close with tannic structure.
-
Alternate Notes: Chocolate, peppercorn, pecan, and stone fruit contribute to a well-balanced, slightly tannic, yet smooth bourbon experience.
