The Fontodi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Terrazze di San Leonino 2022 is a highly regarded, certified organic Sangiovese expressing complex dark cherry, plum, and floral notes with a hint of incense and spice. It features striking salinity and tension from its high-elevation, alberese (limestone) soil vineyard, presenting as full-bodied with silky tannins, firm acidity, and a long, elegant finish that balances dense fruit with complexity.
95 Points - Wine Spectator
This is ripe, opulent and concentrated, with blackberry, black cherry, black currant, violet, earth and spice aromas and flavors. Guided by vibrant acidity and lifted by compact tannins, this finishes long and nuanced. All of the components are there; this just needs time to integrate. Best from 2027 through 2043.
94 Points - James Suckling
Aromas of blackberries, violets and ink follow through to a medium body with ultra-fine tannins that are tight and focus. Bright acidity. Chewy finish. Rather linear and solid in mouthfeel, suggesting that three or four years of bottle age will soften it. From organically grown grapes. Try after 2028.
