This organic red wine originates from Italy, specifically the Sicily DOC region on the island of Sicily. Feudo Montoni is a historic producer, making top quality wines on its grounds since 1469. The winery's philosophy emphasizes the use of natural forces in winemaking, utilizing 'gravity' for transport, 'time' for refinement, and the 'mountains' and winter for refrigeration.
Wine Description
It pours a ruby red color. It offers a complex perfume with notes of cherries (sometimes noted as cooked cherries or cherries in alcohol), red plum, blackberry, and wild berries, harmonizing with warm spicy nuances of cinnamon and clove. Hints of iodine and blood orange also appear. On the palate, the wine's structure is elegant rather than powerful, featuring soft texture, buoyant tannins, vibrant acidity, and a sapid (savory) taste. Mentholated notes amplify the wine's freshness. It has a lifted feel and a pleasantly tart, energetic finish.
Food Pairing
The wine’s spicy, fruity, and savory profile makes it versatile for many dishes. Suggested pairings include roasted and grilled red meats, game, grilled tuna fish, and mature hard cheeses.
