Crafted at the historic La Guarreña distillery in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico, El Tequileño Añejo Private Barrel Selection is a single-cask expression that highlights precision barrel maturation. Produced from 100% estate-grown Weber Blue Agave harvested at peak sugar concentration from the Highlands of Jalisco, the agave piñas are cooked in steam autoclaves, crushed in roller mills, and open-fermented in cement vats using pure mineral spring water sourced from El Volcán de Tequila. Following double distillation in copper pot stills, the spirit is hand-selected and aged individually in hand-picked American oak ex-bourbon casks. Bottled from single barrels chosen for private retailer programs, this expression balances vibrant cooked agave with warm vanilla, toasted oak, and dried fruit complexity.
Food Pairing: Slow-cooked mole poblano, grilled ribeye steak, dark chocolate truffles, aged Manchego cheese, toasted pecans, or churros with caramel dipping sauce.
Tasting Notes: Bright amber-gold in color with medium-high unctuousness and slow-moving legs.
Nose: Rich and complex, opening with caramelized cooked agave, dried fig, and toasted oak, supported by warm vanilla bean, sweet red fruits, and a gentle hint of roasted nuts.
Palate: Full-bodied and velvety on the palate, featuring sweet cooked agave, macadamia nuts, and butterscotch upfront before unfolding into complex layers of cinnamon spice, subtle dried orchard fruit, and refined oak tannins.
Finish: Long, warm, and elegant with lingering notes of sweet vanilla, gentle toasted oak spice, and a dry, mineral-accented agave warmth.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Riedel Tequila glass or Glencairn snifter at room temperature to fully appreciate the complex single-barrel oak nuances, or over a single large ice sphere.
