For the cigar adventurer in search of a tasty smoke that is at once exciting, straightforward, wondrously delicious and satisfying all without a super-premium price tag, then legendary cigar man Steve Saka’s Umbagog Short & Fat by Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is one cigar that is simply not be overlooked.
The Umbagog Short & Fat begins with a gorgeous Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that was to be used for Saka’s award-winning Mi Querida line, but due to Saka’s impossibly high standards, some the leaves didn’t make the cut. Rather than simply discarding the leaves, Saka paired the wrappers with binder and filler tobaccos to create the Umbagog, including the highly entertaining Short & Fat.
A tantalizing 4 ¾” x 56 stick, the Umbagog Short & Fat offers up a delectably rich medium-to-full bodied experience bursting with pepper, cedar, licorice and spice notes which join with traces of dark chocolate for a wildly pleasing near-hour smoke.
Named after a lake and a favorite fishing spot in Saka’s home state of New Hampshire, the Umbagog Short & Fat is a joyfully gratifying escape unlike any other cigar in its class that is to be enjoyed by the everyday aficionado who simply wants an honest to goodness great smoke.
