Filler: Nicaraguan (Broadleaf, Corojo, Criollo)
Profile: Full
The Muestra de Saka Krakatoa marks the seventh installment in the highly sought after Muestra series, delivering a bold and explosive blend that more than lives up to its name. Originally planned for release in 2021, Krakatoa finally arrives as a fully realized expression of power, complexity, and precision blending.
Wrapped in a Grade A1 Ecuadorian Habano leaf over a Nicaraguan binder and a diverse mix of Broadleaf, Corojo, and Criollo fillers, this cigar offers a full bodied profile that is both intense and balanced.
From the first light, Krakatoa hits the ground running, delivering a true flavor bomb with notes of pepper, chocolate, and a perfect balance of sweet and spice. While spice and pepper are present, they are seamlessly integrated, allowing both savory and sweet elements to shine throughout the experience.
Ranked #5 Cigar of the Year 2023 by Halfwheel, Krakatoa stands out for its dynamic profile and powerful delivery, finishing with a bold and memorable retrohale that defines the blend.
Complex, explosive, and limited, Krakatoa is a standout release built for those who crave intensity, balance, and a truly unforgettable smoking experience.
Steve Saka spent over a decade as a senior figure at Drew Estate before launching Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust, bringing with him an encyclopedic knowledge of Nicaraguan tobacco and an uncompromising standard for quality. The Muestra de Saka series is produced in deliberately limited quantities with each release taking years to develop; the Krakatoa was originally planned for 2021 and arrived only when Saka felt the blend was fully realized. The three-varietal filler combination of Broadleaf, Corojo, and Criollo creates a complexity that few full-bodied cigars match: each varietal contributes distinct characteristics; strength, sweetness, and aromatic depth respectively, that interlace throughout the smoke. Ranked No. 5 Cigar of the Year 2023 by Halfwheel. A landmark release for serious aficionados.
