#7 Top 25 Cigars of 2016
94 points, Cigar Aficionado
The Drew Estate Herrera Estelí Norteño Robusto Grande is a standout, award-winning vitola within the Herrera Estelí Norteño portfolio, masterfully created by Master Blender Willy Herrera to showcase a darker, bolder expression of Nicaraguan leaf. By combining a soft box-pressed shape with a generous 54 ring gauge, this vitola allows the rich, oily wrapper leaf to heavily influence the palate while providing an effortless, cool-burning smoke volume.
The physical proportions and tobacco composition of this exact vitola are engineered to deliver a dense, highly satisfying smoke over an extended session. Wrapped in a toothy, dark Mexican San Andrés Maduro leaf, the cigar utilises a hearty Honduran binder to enclose an aged core of select Nicaraguan long-fillers from Estelí and Jalapa. This stocky 5½-inch format guarantees high structural integrity, a straight burn line, and a consistent delivery of deep, multi-layered flavours.
