Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Savigny les Beaune appellation in the northern Cote de Beaune, Domaine Lignier Michelot Savigny les Beaune represents a precise, terroir-driven expression of classic Pinot Noir. Based in Morey Saint Denis and helmed by winemaker Virgile Lignier since 1992, the domain has achieved widespread critical acclaim for its meticulous vineyard management and non-interventionalist cellar practices. Although renowned for their Morey Saint Denis and Clos de la Roche holdings, Virgile's expansion into Savigny les Beaune showcases his signature touch on Cote de Beaune fruit. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes organic farming practices, partial whole-cluster fermentations, native yeasts, minimal sulfur additions, and aging in French oak barrels (approximately 20% to 30% new) to preserve freshness, structural purity, and elegant fruit expression.
