Crafted in the famed Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy, France, Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Clavoillons' 2019 is an extraordinary, benchmark white Chardonnay produced by the world's most revered estate in Puligny-Montrachet. Bordering legendary Premier Crus such as Les Pucelles and Les Folatières, the 5.6-hectare Les Clavoillons vineyard features clay-limestone soils over solid limestone bedrock, yielding a white Burgundy celebrated for its opulent fruit weight, seamless elegance, and thrilling mineral tension. Practicing strict biodynamic viticulture, Domaine Leflaive hand-harvested low yields during the solar, beautifully concentrated 2019 vintage. Vinified with native yeasts and aged for 12 months in fine French oak barriques (25% new oak) followed by 6 months in stainless steel tanks on fine lees, this cuvée captures a sublime synthesis of ripe orchard fruit, white floral aromas, and trademark Puligny chalky minerality.
Food Pairing: Serve on its own as an extraordinary fine wine tasting experience, or pair with butter-poached lobster, pan-seared sea scallops, roasted turbot, veal chops in morrel mushroom sauce, crab cakes, and artisanal French cheeses like aged Comté, Époisses, or Delice de Bourgogne.
93 Points -Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A sleek, focused white defined by lemon cream, peach, vanilla and pastry aromas and flavors. This converges on the finish, with apple and stone notes leaving a mouthwatering impression.
