This Pinot Noir originates from France, specifically the Burgundy region and the Côte de Nuits subregion. Domaine Derey Frères is a historic estate established in 1650, currently managed by three brothers who maintain a deep respect for their heritage and terroir. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes organic farming and minimal intervention to ensure the wines authentically reflect their specific origins.
Wine Description
The Domaine Derey Frères Fixin Vieille Vigne 2023 displays a deep ruby colour. The nose is expressive and elegant, revealing aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, complemented by nuances of licorice, sweet spices, and a delicate touch of oak. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine is round and ample, supported by fine, silky tannins and a distinct minerality that leads to a persistent, balanced finish.
Food Pairing
This wine's structure and flavour profile make it an excellent companion for rich poultry dishes such as roast duck, goose, or game birds. It also pairs beautifully with grilled red meats like ribeye steak or beef bourguignon. For a cheese course, try serving it with local Burgundian options like Epoisses or other strong, washed-rind cheeses.
