Domaine Bousquet Malbec originates from Argentina, specifically from the high-altitude Gualtallary district in the Tupungato region of the Uco Valley in Mendoza. The winery was founded in the late 1990s by Jean Bousquet, a third generation French winemaker who moved from Carcassonne to Mendoza after discovering the ideal terroir for organic viticulture. Today, the estate is owned by Jean's daughter, Anne Bousquet, and her husband Labid Al Ameri, who lead the winery with a firm philosophy centered on 100% organic farming, environmental sustainability, and a New World vision refined by French sensibility.
Wine Description
This Malbec presents a deep, bright violet colour with reddish tones. The sensory profile is fruit forward and intense, featuring aromas of blackberry, plum, and red currant, often layered with floral notes of violet and hints of spice, chocolate, and mountain herbs. On the palate, it is medium to full bodied and well balanced, delivering lush flavours of dark cherry, fig, and cassis. The structure is defined by soft, elegant tannins and a fresh acidity that leads to a long, persistent finish. This 100% Malbec varietal typically has an ABV of 13% to 14% and is fermented in stainless steel tanks without oak contact to preserve its pure varietal expression. The wine is certified organic and 100% vegan.
Food Pairing
The vibrant fruit and smooth tannins of this organic Malbec make it an exceptionally food friendly choice. It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, such as seared steak, BBQ burgers, or traditional Argentine asado. It also complements pasta served with meat or tomato based sauces, roasted pork, and spicy Tex-Mex dishes like fajitas. For a cheese course, it is best enjoyed with sharp cheddar, manchego, or mild aged varieties.
