Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva Rum is an award-winning, globally celebrated Venezuelan dark sipping rum that stands as a benchmark for rich, sweet, and complex cane spirits. Crafted by Destilerías Unidas S.A. (DUSA) at the foot of the Andes Mountains, this flagship expression is a masterful blend of heavy pot still distillates (80%) and lighter column and batch kettle distillates (20%), utilizing high-quality sugar cane honeys alongside molasses. The rum is aged for up to twelve years in small, hand-selected ex-bourbon and ex-malt whiskey white oak casks. This patient maturation process under tropical conditions creates an exceptionally smooth, decadent, and full-bodied spirit that boasts an exquisite balance of dark caramel, rich baking spices, and dense tropical fruit notes.
Food Pairing: Pairs magnificently with rich dark chocolate fondant, pecan pie, slow-cooked caramelized pork belly, mature blue cheeses, or a fine cigar.
TASTING NOTES - A brilliant, deep amber and orange-tinged copper color with a full, velvety, and luxuriously viscous body that coats the palate.
NOSE - Deeply complex and highly inviting, opening with rich aromas of orange peel, sweet maple syrup, brown sugar, and toffee, followed by warm notes of licorice, vanilla bean, and nutmeg.
PALATE - Luscious, soft, and remarkably smooth on the tongue, delivering dominant flavors of sweet chocolate fudge, rich caramel, and tropical dried fruits, intermingled with hints of oak spice and creamy vanilla.
FINISH - Long, sweet, and exceptionally warming, leaving a highly persistent trail of dark cocoa, charred oak, and a lingering touch of citrus zest.
SERVE - Best enjoyed poured neat at room temperature or with a single large ice cube in a classic rocks or spirits nosing glass, or as the premium foundation for an elegant Rum Old Fashioned.
