Crafted in Axocopan, Puebla, Mexico, Del Maguey Vida Puebla is an artisanal single-village mezcal produced by local mezcalero families under the guidance of Del Maguey. Expanding the producer's footprint beyond Oaxaca, this expression is made from 100% estate-grown Espadín agave cultivated in the mineral-dense volcanic soils surrounding the Popocatépetl volcano. The mature piñas are slow-roasted in traditional underground conical stone pits fueled by oak and local wood, crushed using a horse-drawn stone tahona wheel, and open-fermented in wooden vats with natural wild airborne yeasts. Double-distilled in traditional copper pot stills, Vida Puebla delivers a vibrant, approachable, and fruit-forward profile that bridges traditional sipping culture with high-end cocktail versatility.
Food Pairing: Grilled chicken street tacos, roasted pork carnitas, fresh ceviche with avocado, poblano mole, goat cheese crostini, or dark chocolate with sea salt.
Tasting Notes: Crystal clear in appearance with bright clarity, a silky medium body, and clean, fast-moving tears.
Nose: Vibrant, fresh, and inviting, opening with sweet cooked agave, bright lime zest, and white peach, accompanied by soft wood smoke, roasted herbs, subtle white floral notes, and damp earth.
Palate: Smooth, round, and fruit-forward on the palate, featuring caramelized agave nectar, ripe stone fruit, and zesty citrus upfront before unfolding into layers of gentle mesquite smoke, white pepper, light green herbs, and volcanic minerality.
Finish: Medium-long, clean, and crisp with lingering notes of sweet agave, soft wood smoke, citrus pith, and a gentle herbal warmth.
Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a traditional clay copita or Glencairn glass, or as a sophisticated, versatile foundation for craft cocktails like a Mezcal Margarita, Paloma, or Last Word.
