Varietal: Pinot Gris-Vigonier ABV: 13% Winemakers: Jean-Yves and Pierre-André Ournac MSRP: $15.00
For almost 200 years, the Ournac family has produced incredible wines in France’s Languedoc region. Brothers Jean-Yves and Pierre-André Ournac are the 6th generation to carry this legacy, crafting award-winning vintages by blending family tradition with modern innovation. Decollette is a masterful combination of two traditional French varietals, balancing vibrant Pinot Gris with the perfumed aromatics of Vigonier. This blend won over critics and our club members alike, winning the Silver Medal from the 2017 Winemaker Challenge.
Decollete 2015 is a fruity, vibrant blend of Pinot Gris and Viognier that perfectly exemplifies the care and commitment these master winemakers put into their craft. The Pinot Gris makes up the majority of the blend giving the wine rich, round, and highly expressive flavors. White pepper plays alongside notes of peach and apple to form the core of the experience, while accents of stone fruits round out the wine with a slight minerality. The Viognier, fermented in new French oak, contributes flavors of toasty vanilla and apricot to the mix, which gives the wine a warmth and depth not typically seen in Pinot Gris blends.
