The Davidoff Winston Churchill The Late Hour is built around one idea: Nicaraguan Condega tobacco aged six months in casks that once held Speyside single-malt Scotch. That leaf goes into the filler, not the wrapper, and it threads a quiet whisky sweetness through the whole cigar. Davidoff released The Late Hour in 2017 as a darker companion to the original Davidoff Winston Churchill, named for the late nights when Churchill did his best work. It's the fullest blend in the Winston Churchill range.
An Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper sets a dark, oily tone over a Mexican San Andrés Negro binder. The filler runs Dominican Olor, Piloto and San Vicente alongside the Scotch-cask Condega and additional Estelí leaf from Nicaragua, pulling from four countries. Each cigar is made at the Cigars Davidoff factory in the Dominican Republic.
Dark coffee, oak and black pepper lead, with leather and a cocoa-edged sweetness behind them. The whisky note never reads as infused or sugary, it just rounds the edges. Strength lands medium to full, heavier than the original Winston Churchill but still balanced.
