After its time in new charred oak, this Pennsylvania rye spends a second stretch in port barrels, and the handoff shows. Dried fruit and port wine sweetness settle over the grain's natural pepper and spice, with oak framing the whole thing and a thread of floral character running underneath.
Bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle, it reflects the way Dad's Hat works: local grain, small batches, and finishing barrels chosen to reshape the rye rather than cover it. A spice-forward whiskey with a rounder, fruitier edge.
