Twenty years on from its debut, The Peat Monster returns in a cask strength form that leans on American oak. Bottled at 56.7% ABV in a 700 ml format, this blended malt Scotch carries the smoky backbone the name suggests, then picks up added depth from a finishing period in seasoned virgin American white oak barrels.
The whisky is presented at natural colour and without chill filtration, leaving its texture and layered character intact. On the palate, warmth and complexity come through with oak, spice and dried fruit, closing smooth and long. This limited edition release points to the role American cooperage has played in shaping modern Scotch.
