Compass Box Stranger & Stranger is a remarkable limited-edition spirit created to celebrate a decade of collaboration between Compass Box and the renowned packaging design studio Stranger & Stranger. Released in 2018, this unconventional expression combines mature Scotch malt whiskies with a small proportion of experimental one-year-old grain spirit matured in specially seasoned American oak barrels. The result is a distinctive, richly flavoured spirit that challenges traditional whisky conventions. Bottled at 46% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration, this collectible release was limited to 4,802 bottles worldwide. Its intricate, imaginative label design reflects the creative partnership behind this exceptional bottling.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with apple crumble, vanilla custard, salted caramel desserts, roasted almonds and aged cheddar. Its rich sweetness and gentle spice also complement dark chocolate, buttery shortbread and caramelized pears.
Tasting Notes: A rich and expressive combination of creamy vanilla custard, dark brown sugar, fresh orchard fruits and warming oak spices. Sweet confectionery notes mingle with delicate herbal accents, creating an appealing balance of fruit, sweetness and spice.
Nose: Inviting aromas of vanilla custard, baked apples and dark sugar emerge alongside fresh pear, sweet oak and subtle herbal nuances. Gentle hints of caramel and warming wood spice add complexity.
Palate: Smooth, rounded and pleasantly sweet, offering layers of creamy vanilla, brown sugar, fresh apple and caramel. Rich oak spices develop alongside soft herbal notes and a touch of citrus brightness.
Finish: Lingering sweetness of vanilla and dark sugar gradually gives way to warming wood spices, delicate orchard fruit and gentle herbal notes, leaving a balanced and satisfying impression.
