Chateau Pontet-Canet 1990s Vertical Pack offers a rare and fascinating journey through a pivotal decade for this historic Fifth Growth estate. The 1990s marked a true renaissance for Pontet-Canet under the guidance of Alfred Tesseron, who took full control in 1994, ushering in an era of rigorous vineyard selection and dramatically rising quality. This collection showcases the evolution of the estate's classic Pauillac style, featuring beautifully matured wines that exude deep garnet and brick-red hues. Across the decade, the noses reveal mature, highly complex bouquets of dried blackcurrants, cigar box, damp earth, saddle leather, and classic cedar pencil shavings. On the palate, these fully mature and elegantly peaking wines exhibit completely resolved, silky tannins, a refined medium-to-full body, and a seamless balance between tertiary savory notes and lingering dark fruit, culminating in long, sophisticated finishes.
The Collection: A comprehensive ex-château release of this vertical pack contains 6 specific vintages (e.g., 1990, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999) housed in a custom-designed wooden case.
Food Pairing: This collection of mature, refined Pauillac pairs magnificently with classic dishes such as roast rack of lamb with rosemary, beef Wellington, truffled mushroom risotto, pan-seared duck breast, and a curated selection of aged, firm cheeses like mature Cheddar, Comté, or aged Gouda.
