A renowned Fifth Growth Pauillac, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is celebrated for its classic Cabernet Sauvignon-driven style and remarkable longevity. It reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, cedar, graphite, tobacco, violet, and subtle baking spice. Powerful yet impeccably refined, it delivers firm tannins, vibrant freshness, exceptional precision, and a long, age-worthy finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, grilled ribeye, roast lamb, duck breast, venison, mushroom risotto, aged Comté, or braised short ribs.
97 Points - James Suckling
A rich wine that is rather youthful at this stage, with rich but fresh aromas of black and blue fruit, violets and fine wood spices, which will integrate soon. On the palate this is flavorful and well structured, with fine, dusty tannins. As with many left-bank wines in Bordeaux, the tannins this year changed from fine-grained to super dusty and mealy, which means higher phenolic ripeness. 79% cabernet sauvignon and 21% merlot. 14% alcohol. The tannins make you want to drink it now, but it’ll be better from 2029 when the oak integrates. From a vertical tasting at the winery.
96 Points - Wine Spectator
This version shows the floral side of the vintage, with a vibrant mix of iris, violet and rose petal notes leading the way, backed by a core of pure and racy red and black currant preserves. There's a well-integrated singed cedar note running along its flanks and a long beam of iron driving the finish. Textbook. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2026 through 2042. 10,000 cases made.
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has turned out nicely in bottle, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cassis and plums mingled with notions of rose petal, tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, bright and velvety, with a layered core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins, it's beautifully balanced.
