Casey Jones Barrel Cut "Blue" Bourbon (specifically the Blue Hole or Blue Corn variants) is a premium, craft spirit produced in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. It is crafted at Casey Jones Distillery, which is famous for its use of a unique square copper pot still—a design legacy of the founder's grandfather, a prolific Prohibition-era still maker. The "Blue" designation typically refers to the distillery's specialized Finished Barrel Series, such as the Blue Hole release, or their expressions featuring locally grown heirloom blue corn, which provides a nuttier and oilier profile than standard yellow corn.
Description
The "Barrel Cut" line is characterized by being bottled at Cask Strength (uncut and unfiltered), offering a more intense and concentrated flavor profile.
The "Blue Hole" Edition: This specific 2024–2026 release is a "Barrel Finished" spirit aged for 4 years. It uses a unique 50/50 mash bill of corn and cane sugar, initially matured in new oak and then finished for 17 days in Used Amburana Casks.
Aroma: A complex nose of rich red cherry, spiced oak, and "muddled green fruit," with the Amburana finish adding a distinct "tannic twist".
Palate: A velvety, full-bodied mouthfeel. It features notes of semi-sweet dark cherry, apple fruit, and toasted brown sugar, evolving into a "malt caramel" body with hints of sweet tobacco.
Finish: A long, satisfying finish that is "delightfully dry" with a lingering peppery kick and a distinct rye-like spice.
Technical Details: Bottled at Cask Strength, typically ranging between 98.8 and 110 proof (49.4%–55% ABV).
