(Quantity: 1 Cigar) Casa Carrillo Essence Sumatra – Premium Ecuadorian Sumatra Cigar | CigarHaus
The Casa Carrillo Essence Sumatra is a medium-bodied premium cigar created to showcase the influence a high-quality wrapper can have on an entire blend. It was the first release in Casa Carrillo’s Essence Series, a collection designed around exploring distinctive wrapper tobaccos.
Handcrafted at the Casa Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic, the Essence Sumatra features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, an unusual dual binder of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco, and Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers. The result is a balanced, full-flavoured cigar with notes of almond, coffee, white pepper and raw sugar.
Flavour Profile
- Roasted almond
- Coffee & espresso
- Cocoa
- Toasted oak
- White pepper
- Raw sugar sweetness
- Cedar & earth
- Light warming spice
Casa Carrillo compares the overall experience to a dark-chocolate-covered espresso bean with sugar and light spice, making this a particularly attractive blend for smokers who enjoy coffee and cocoa-driven cigars.
Why It Stands Out
The Essence Series is specifically focused on wrapper tobacco, and Sumatra was chosen to introduce the concept. Its reddish-brown Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf provides sweetness and spice while the dual Honduran/Nicaraguan binder adds another layer of complexity.
Despite its rich flavour profile, Casa Carrillo rates the cigar medium in both body and strength, making it approachable without sacrificing complexity.
