Jeppson's Malort is a Swedish herbal liqueur bottled at 35% ABV in a 750 ml format. It is built around bitterness rather than sweetness, and it makes no attempt to soften the impression it leaves.
The profile runs to intense herbs and wormwood, with bitter citrus and a wider botanical complexity underneath. This is an acquired flavor, and drinkers who seek it out tend to do so deliberately.
Long a fixture of Chicago's cocktail culture, Malort has a following among those who prefer a spirit that pushes against conventional taste expectations.
