Rosato MP3 is made from the MP3 clone of Montepulciano, sourced from organically farmed vineyards near Montorio al Vomano in the Teramo province of Abruzzo. The vines grow on stony limestone soils at around 300 meters elevation in the hills between Gran Sasso and the Adriatic coast. Classified as Vino da Tavola, this wine sits outside the Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC framework by design.
Grapes are destemmed and given only a few hours of skin contact before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts begins, with no temperature control and zero additions. The wine then ages in fiberglass containers for approximately eight to nine months on its lees before bottling without fining or filtration. No sulfur is added at any stage.
The result is a pinky-orange rosato that is distinctly lighter and more acid-driven than the region's traditional Cerasuolo style. Cranberry, strawberry, melon, and citrus dominate the nose and palate. The body stays light, the finish is clean, and the acidity keeps everything lively and easy to drink at around 11% ABV.
The name MP3 refers to the specific Montepulciano clone used, drawing a clear line between this wine and Cantina Indigeno's other rosato expressions from the same vineyard.
