The Caldwell Long Live the King Mad MoFo Habano Magnum takes the fuller side of Caldwell and puts it into a substantial 6" x 60 format. A Dominican Habano wrapper covers an Indonesian Sumatra binder and a multinational filler blend of Pennsylvania, Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. It's an assertive combination by Caldwell standards, delivering considerably more body and spice than the softer, more restrained profiles for which the brand is often known.
The Magnum's 60-ring format gives those filler tobaccos plenty of room to work. The Habano wrapper contributes spice and aromatic tobacco character, while the Pennsylvania leaf adds weight to the Nicaraguan and Dominican core. Expect a broad, full-bodied smoke with pepper, earth, roasted coffee and wood at the forefront, balanced by richer toasted and naturally sweet undertones. Compared with the concentrated 43-ring Corona, the Magnum puts considerably more emphasis on the complexity and strength of the interior blend.
If you're a large-ring smoker who has always wished Caldwell would turn up the volume, the Mad MoFo Habano Magnum was made with you in mind. It's big, bold and unapologetically full-flavored, yet there's enough interesting tobacco underneath the strength to keep it recognizably Caldwell. Put a few in the humidor when you want something with real presence—this is Caldwell with the gloves off.
