Bulleit stepping into the Bottled in Bond arena marks a pivotal shift for the powerhouse brand. Distilled entirely at their Shelbyville facility, this release decisively closes the book on the old sourcing rumors that once defined them. They committed fully to the stringent rules of the 1897 act. The whiskey delivers uncompromising transparency. A spirit distilled in a single season slumbers for four years before arriving at a hefty 100 proof.
High-rye mashbills fundamentally demand proper time to integrate, and that lengthy barrel hibernation works absolute wonders here. Pushing the proof to an even hundred elevates their signature rustic spice profile into a distinctly intricate experience. Wood tannins grip the palate firmly. Yet, they find beautiful equilibrium against heavy waves of toasted marshmallow, toasted oak, and baked orchard fruit. This robust expression highlights precisely what their proprietary yeast strains and carefully measured distillation cuts can achieve when guided by masterful aging.
- Distilled at DSP-KY-113 in Shelbyville, Kentucky
