Brucato Oro y Fierro Kumquat Chili Liqueur 700 mL is a California citrus liqueur made with Nagami kumquats and dried orange peel. Brucato adds Calabrian chili and toasted chile de árbol. The producer describes aromatic chili and a spirited kick. This offering is one 700 mL bottle, not the six-bottle wholesale case.
The kumquats are sliced and dried, then macerated with orange peel in unaged grape brandy. Brucato describes a bright kumquat aroma and layered citrus-marmalade character. The spicy expression adds earthy Calabrian chili and the subtle smokiness and heat of chile de árbol. Its amber hue and citrus-and-chili combination make it distinct from the producer’s separate, non-chili Oro y Fierro kumquat liqueur.
For cocktails, Brucato suggests trying Oro y Fierro where an orange liqueur fits a margarita, sidecar or cosmopolitan. The producer specifically suggests the chili version for a spicy margarita with lime juice and tequila or mezcal. It may also be mixed into a spritz with sparkling wine and seasonal fruit. The sale unit remains one 700 mL bottle at 40% ABV (80 proof).
