The Breville Oracle Dual Boiler is a commercial-style espresso machine that grinds, doses and tamps for you, then steams the milk automatically while the shot is still pulling. It is the machine for someone who wants a real 58 mm portafilter and café workflow without spending a year learning to tamp and texture.
On most home machines you brew, then wait, then steam, and the shot cools while the milk catches up. Two boilers end that. The Oracle extracts and steams at once, each at its own temperature, so a round of flat whites takes café time rather than home time.
Highlights
- Dual stainless steel boilers with PID control, so espresso and steam run simultaneously, each held at its own temperature
- Automatic grind, dose and tamp into the portafilter, removing the two steps that cause most bad shots at home
- Integrated Baratza precision burrs, 45 settings, electronically adjusted, so dialling in a new bag is a setting rather than a project
- Auto MilQ hands-free texturing with 9 texture levels and temperatures from 115 to 165 degrees Fahrenheit, plus dedicated settings for oat, almond and soy
- 58 mm commercial portafilter, 22 gram dose, the same format used behind a café counter
- Programmable pre-infusion, shot volume and brew temperature, and a manual mode for when you want to drive it yourself
- 5.7 inch touchscreen and a 77 ounce tank, so a busy morning does not turn into refills and menus
Who it's for
- Households making several milk drinks a day, where the stop-and-start of a single boiler is the actual bottleneck
- People who want café workflow and a real portafilter, but not the year of practice that usually comes with it
- Anyone moving up from pods who wants control over the shot without grinding, dosing and tamping by hand
Worth checking before you buy: this is a full-size machine at about 15 inches wide and 18 inches tall, so measure your counter and the clearance under your cabinets. And if what you actually want is a button that produces a latte with no portafilter involved at all, say so when you call or visit the showroom, and we will point you at the machines built for that instead.
Living with it
Daily, purge and wipe the steam wand and empty the puck. The wand stays cool to the touch and auto-purges to keep the tip clear, which makes this quicker than it is on most machines, but it is still a daily habit rather than an optional one.
Then periodically, the machine prompts a cleaning cycle and a descale when they are due. The cleaning tablets, cleaning disc, steam wand cleaning powder, descaling powder, water filter and hardness strip all come in the box. Fit the filter and set your water hardness on day one and descaling stays infrequent.
FAQs
-
Do I need a separate grinder?
No. The grinder is built in, using Baratza precision burrs with 45 settings, and it grinds straight into the portafilter and tamps for you. That is the main reason this machine costs what it does. -
Can it really brew and steam at the same time?
Yes, and it is the practical difference between this and a single boiler machine. Two separate stainless steel boilers hold brew and steam temperatures independently, so you are not waiting for the machine to change modes between drinks. -
Does it work with oat or almond milk?
Yes. Auto MilQ has dedicated settings for dairy, oat, almond and soy, with 9 texture levels and temperatures from 115 to 165 degrees Fahrenheit, so plant milks are handled deliberately rather than hopefully. -
How much espresso skill do I need?
Very little to start: the machine grinds, doses, tamps and textures milk on its own. When you want more control, manual mode opens up pre-infusion, brew temperature and shot volume, so it grows with you. -
What size portafilter and baskets does it use?
A 58 mm stainless steel portafilter with a 22 gram dose, the commercial standard, so accessories are easy to find. It ships with single wall baskets, which suit the fresh grind the built-in grinder produces. -
Who handles warranty and service in Canada?
Breville products are covered and serviced directly by Breville Canada, reachable at 1-855-683-3535. We are here for setup help, dialling in your first beans, and questions about using the machine, before and after you buy.
