From Scotland’s Isle of Islay, Bowmore is the island’s first recorded distillery, established in 1779. Renowned for its balance of maritime character, smoky peat, and refined fruit notes, Bowmore has built a reputation as one of the world’s classic single malt producers. The Timeless Series celebrates patience in whisky making, with rare releases that showcase long maturation in Bowmore’s legendary No.1 Vaults.
Whisky Description
This 29-year-old single malt presents a deep amber colour, reflecting its extended maturation in sherry-seasoned European oak and ex-bourbon American oak casks laid down in 1991 and 1992. The nose reveals sherry-soaked raisins, cocoa, orange marmalade, cherry blossom, and subtle liquorice, underpinned by warm Christmas spices. On the palate, rich layers of plum jam, dates, dark chocolate, espresso, and gentle oak spice intermingle with a touch of salinity and Bowmore’s signature soft peat smoke. Full-bodied and complex, the whisky offers remarkable balance between sweetness, spice, and smoke.
Food Pairing
This rare expression pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as braised short ribs, venison stew, or dark chocolate truffles. The whisky’s smoky-sweet complexity complements savoury umami flavours, while its rich finish enhances decadent desserts.
