Bird Dog Honey Flavored Whiskey is a sweet, mellow sipper from Kentucky. It is part of the Bird Dog range from Western Spirits. The brand starts with Kentucky whiskey and adds real honey flavour. It is bottled at 40% ABV, or 80 proof.
The honey shows up first, right on the nose, with a little black pepper behind it. In the mouth, honey sweetness leads the way. Notes of oak and mild spice keep it from tasting like syrup. The finish stays sweet and gently spicy. Reviewers often say the sweetness is pleasant rather than cloying.
In 2022 the Beverage Testing Institute gave it 87 points and a Silver Medal. Its tasters rated it highly recommended.
Drink it neat if you like things simple, or pour it over ice on a warm day. It is also handy for mixing. Stir it into a hot toddy in winter, or pair it with lemonade and ice in summer. It makes a friendly base for easy cocktails and highballs, too.
Bring a bottle to a barbecue, a tailgate or a casual night with friends. It goes well with smoked meats and vanilla desserts. You will like it if you prefer your whiskey soft, sweet and low on fuss. It is a laid-back pour that suits newer whiskey drinkers just fine.
