The Contrasts range
The Contrasts range is where Benromach steps away from its Signature style to test one variable at a time, such as the barley, the oak, the distillation or the peat. Each release is a limited small batch, bottled at 46% ABV with natural colour.
The whisky
Benromach call this perhaps one of the most contrasting releases in the series. Using only unpeated barley removes the soft smoke found in the Signature range, leaving the fruit and cask character in full view. After nine years in first-fill sherry and bourbon casks it shows vanilla fudge, candied pineapple and sweet liquorice.
How to enjoy it
Taste it neat beside a glass of Benromach 10 to see what the peat normally adds. A splash of water lifts the fruit. It pairs well with apple desserts or mild cheeses.
