The Ascaso Steel Duo V2.5 PID in Inox stainless steel is the generation of Ascaso's flagship home machine that closes the gap between a serious prosumer setup and a café bar. Two independent thermoblocks — one for brewing, one for steam — mean you pull a shot and texture milk at the same time, with no temperature sag and no waiting for a boiler to swing back. Handbuilt in Barcelona, it packs genuine workflow control into a footprint that fits a real kitchen counter.
If you've outgrown a single-boiler machine and you're tired of choosing between espresso temperature and steam pressure, this is the upgrade that removes the compromise. PID control holds your brew temperature to the degree, an adjustable OPV lets you dial pressure to the coffee instead of the factory, and volumetric programming means your morning double lands at the same weight every single day.
Precision and Control
- PID temperature control: Set and hold brew temperature in one-degree increments, so a light Ethiopian and a dark Italian roast each get the profile they actually want.
- Programmable volumetrics: Program pre-infusion, single and double shot volumes, and auto-standby. Repeatable shots without a timer in your hand.
- Adjustable OPV: Tune brewing pressure yourself to pull back over-extraction and bitterness — a level of control most machines in this class simply don't expose.
- Analogue pressure gauge: Watch pressure build through pre-infusion and extraction, so you can read what the puck is doing rather than guess.
- Dynamic pre-infusion: Fully adjustable pre-infusion gently saturates the puck before full pressure, reducing channelling and evening out extraction.
Dual Thermoblock Steam Performance
- True simultaneous brew and steam: Separate stainless-lined aluminium thermoblocks for coffee and steam — brew and froth together, every time, with no recovery lag.
- Continuous professional steam: Steady, dry steam with the power to build proper microfoam for latte art, not just heat milk.
- No-burn steam wand: Advanced insulated wand you can handle safely mid-workflow, paired with a walnut steam knob for fine control.
- Fresh water on every shot: Thermoblock heating means no standing water sitting in a boiler — cleaner cup, cleaner flavour.
Build Quality
- Full Inox stainless steel body: The bare-metal finish in the Steel Duo range — polished stainless panels with no powder coat, so it ages like equipment rather than like an appliance.
- 58mm commercial portafilter: Full café-standard 58mm basket size with a real walnut handle — accessories, tampers and distributors from the wider espresso world all fit.
- Integrated cup warmer and solenoid valve: Preheated cups and a dry, cleanly released puck after every shot.
- Energy efficient: Thermoblock heating draws roughly 50% less power than a comparable traditional boiler machine, and reaches brew temperature in about three and a half minutes rather than twenty.
- 67 oz removable reservoir: Nearly two litres of easy top-up capacity in a polycarbonate tank that's NSF and FDA approved for food contact.
Choosing Your Amperage
Two configurations are available. Canadian kitchens on standard household circuits should choose 15 Amp. If you have a dedicated 20 amp circuit, the 20 Amp version ships with a NEMA 5-20 cord and adaptor.
