The Arturo Fuente Añejo 888 Maduro is one of the rarest and most sought-after cigars in the world, a masterpiece born from adversity and perfected by tradition. After Hurricane Georges devastated the Dominican Republic in 1998 and wiped out the Fuente family's prized Fuente Fuente Opus X wrappers, Carlos Fuente Jr. transformed loss into opportunity. His solution became legendary: use select Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrappers aged for a full year in oak cognac barrels to create something entirely new-the Fuente Añejo series.
Handmade in the Dominican Republic, the Añejo 888 Maduro combines these exceptional cognac barrel-aged wrappers with the famous Opus X blend of Dominican binder and filler tobaccos. The result is a cigar that delivers a rich, medium-to-full bodied smoking experience with unparalleled complexity. Expect notes of dark chocolate, earth, leather, sweet spice, and a subtle cognac finish that lingers with elegance.
Known for its long, elegant size (a slender 9 x 48 vitola), the Añejo 888 stands out as one of the most unique shapes in the line, offering a long, refined smoking experience that aficionados treasure. Because the Añejo series is released only a few times per year-most notably around the holiday season-these cigars vanish quickly from shelves, sparking a frenzy among collectors and connoisseurs worldwide.
