You can now receive the visit of the Green Fairy herself with this Fairy Absinthe Fountain! For more than a century, absinthe has been commonly called "la fée verte" because of its greenish hue. The lid is decorated with the classic "acorn" fleuron and can be removed to add iced water into the glass bowl, which includes a water filter to prevent ice from clogging the spouts. It is perfect for dripping water used in a traditional absinthe ritual. By turning the fountain's spigot the amount of water can vary from a slow drip to a gentle pour. Fountain will accommodate 1 to 4 people at one time. Drink ratio varies from 1 part absinthe, to between 3 to 5 parts water, depending on one's preference.
- Capacity: approx 1.2L
- Dimensions: 24" (60.9 cm) tall (with lid); 11.75" (29.8 cm) under each spout.
- Material: *mouthblown glass; solid brass base and spouts with copper tone metal plating
- Care: rinse reservoir with warm soapy water
*Note: bubbles may be present in this mouthblown glass because the shapes are formed literally with the craftsmen's breath. These bubbles are part of the charm of a hand-blown piece and inconsistencies occur naturally, which makes each piece unique. The copper is an antique finish, so some texture in places is to be expected.
Proper use consists of: pouring an ounce of absinthe into an absinthe glass, then placing an absinthe spoon on top of the glass and a sugar cube atop the spoon. The lid of the fountain is removed and fresh water and ice is added into the glass bowl. The spigot is slightly turned and the ice water is slowly dripped from the fountain onto the piece of sugar. The cold sugar water then drips from the spoon into the glass of absinthe releasing oils and perfuming the air with fennel, grand wormwood and anise. The combination also begins to turn milky white in colour, as the water mixes with the anise. Refresh water before each use.
