Antigua Porteño Sistema Solera 21 is a premium Colombian rum produced under the Antigua Porteño brand. Despite the "Antigua" name which often leads to confusion with the island of Antigua in the Caribbean this expression is crafted in Colombia utilizing the traditional Spanish-style Solera dynamic aging process. Engineered to showcase the complexity of long fractional maturation, the "Solera 21" designation signifies that the blend includes aged spirits matured for up to 21 years in select oak casks.
Spirit Description
Antigua Porteño Solera 21 is distilled from sugarcane molasses and aged through a multi-tiered Solera cascade. This method blends younger, vibrant rums with older, wood-rich reserves, creating a cohesive, silky spirit that marries dried tropical fruit notes with rich oak tannins, caramelized nuts, and warm baking spices.
Colour: Bright golden amber with rich copper and honeyed highlights.
Aroma: Warm, sweet, and aromatic, opening with caramelized nuts, brown sugar, and spiced mocha, backed by polished cedar wood, light coconut, and subtle tropical fruit.
Palate: Smooth, silky, and fruity on the entry. Upfront flavors of toasted coconut, crème brûlée, and sweet toffee blend into tropical fruit gelato, dried citrus peel, and gentle baking spices (cinnamon and nutmeg).
Body: Medium-to-full-bodied with a soft, rounded, and coating mouthfeel.
Finish: Medium-long, crisp, and stimulating, closing with lingering notes of roasted nuts, mocha, light leather, and dry cedar wood.
ABV: Bottled at 40% (80 Proof).
