Alfred Schladerer Schwarzwälder Williams-Birne is a Williams pear brandy produced by Alfred Schladerer in Staufen, Germany. The distillery works with sun-ripened Williams pears from the Markgräflerland and Alpine valleys, supplemented by fruit from established growing areas in France and Italy. Pears are processed without delay, and cooled fermentation is used to protect their aromatic character. This U.S. bottle is 750 mL and carries the exact source UPC at 40% ABV / 80 proof.
The producer describes a mild, inviting first impression that opens into the aroma of ripe, juicy pears. Notes of mace, pepper, and pimento add a measured savory-spice accent without displacing the fruit. Schladerer’s sourcing spans elevations from roughly 300 to 800 meters, where warm days and cooler conditions support ripening while helping retain aroma. The clear spirit is presented in the house’s square-shouldered bottle with “Williams Birne” on the front label. Serve cool in a small tulip-shaped glass to concentrate the pear aroma and gentle spice.
