Aia Vecchia Sor Ugo Bolgheri Superiore 2022 is the flagship red wine from this esteemed estate, presenting an exceptional expression of a Super Tuscan Bordeaux-style blend. In the glass, it displays a deep, dark ruby color with a complex bouquet layered with aromas of ripe cherries, dark plums, black currant, menthol, and a touch of rosemary. The palate is robust, rich, and highly structured, showing sweet dark fruit characteristics tightly intertwined with firm, velvety tannins, a lively thread of acidity, and elegant notes of espresso, licorice, and sweet tobacco. This powerful yet remarkably balanced red captures the full depth and coastal strength of the Maremma terroir, culminating in a long, savory, and beautifully sustained finish. It benefits significantly from a period of aging or decanting, allowing its sophisticated components and underlying freshness to integrate seamlessly.
Food Pairing: This highly structured red wine pairs perfectly with hearty main courses such as roasted rack of lamb, wild boar ragù, grilled ribeye steak, or mature hard cheeses.
