Adelphi Ben Nevis 2013 11 Year Old is an exceptional, highly collectible independent single cask release from the renowned Ben Nevis Distillery, selected and bottled by the acclaimed independent bottler Adelphi. Distilled in 2013 and aged for 11 years, this Highland single malt showcases the iconic, robust "funky" character that has made Ben Nevis a cult favorite among whisky enthusiasts. Non-chill filtered and bottled at natural cask strength with no added coloring, this expression yields a heavy, textural distillate rich in complex tropical ester notes, oily waxiness, savory malt, and classic Highland mineral depth, perfectly complemented by rich wood maturation.
Food Pairing: Pairs brilliantly with roasted venison with a juniper berry reduction, rich haggis, mature sharp cheddar cheese, braised beef short ribs, or dark chocolate-covered espresso beans.
TASTING NOTES - A deep golden-amber appearance exhibiting a rich, full-bodied, and remarkably oily mouthfeel that coats the palate and leaves heavy, slow-moving legs on the glass.
NOSE - Deeply aromatic and complex, opening with signature Ben Nevis notes of tropical fruit oil, ripe mango, and orange oil, followed by sweet malt, beeswax, leather, faint engine oil, and subtle agricultural funk.
PALATE - Bold, viscous, and flavor-forward, delivering an immediate wave of rich honeyed barley, stewed fruits, and marmalade, expanding mid-palate into roasted nuts, white pepper, earthy minerals, and a warm, savory oak backbone.
FINISH - Long, warming, and highly persistent, resolving with lingering trails of bittersweet orange peel, damp oak, faint cocoa, and a clean, mineral dryness.
SERVE - Best enjoyed poured neat at room temperature in a traditional Glencairn glass to experience the full intensity of the cask strength, or allowed to open up with a few drops of pure spring water to release hidden floral and tropical fruit esters.
