400 Conejos Espadin-Tobala Mezcal Joven is a 100% agave blend of Espadin and Tobala from Oaxaca, Mexico. Its label details an artisanal process: agave is cooked in a volcanic earth pit oven, milled by a horse-pulled stone, fermented in wooden tubs, and distilled in copper pot stills. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
The aroma opens with citrus and orange blossom, followed by subtler notes of mesquite and fruit. The palate balances citrus and herbal tones with green fruit and the smoke of cooked agave, leading to a soft, complex finish with a lingering smoky touch.
Serve it neat to explore the interplay of bright citrus, herbs, and smoke, or add it to a cocktail when the drink benefits from a measured smoky layer. This is a single 750ml bottle of Joven mezcal. Its combination of vivid aromatics, cooked agave, and gentle smoke works equally well in a slow pour or an agave-forward cocktail.
